侯” (Toohoo) in the tombstone of King Moonmoo of 682 year is not Kim Il-je, but “Sanggu Sung”.

In this essay, it is proposed that “侯” (Toohoo) in the tombstone of King Moonmoo is “商丘成” (Sanggu Sung) from the Dongyi tribe, not Kim Il-je (金日) from the Xiongnu tribe. Up until now, many argue that the Toohoo was interpreted as Kim Il-je, who was born as the prince of the Xiongnu tribe and defected to the Han Dynasty, but this essay proposes that Toohoo is “商丘成”(Sanggu Sung).

In addition, it is proposed that the toohoo of “侯之忠孝淳深” in “Seojeongbu” was not “Kim Il-je but “Sanggu Sung”.

In this way through textual interpretation, it is refuted the hypothesis that “Silla was descended from the Xiongnu”. It is a historical fact that the Silla Kingdom was descended from the Dongyi tribe of the Shang dynasty.

Although the “Sanggu Sung” is recorded in the Han Shu(漢書) and Jachitonggam(資治通鑑), and in the 1716 year published Dictionary of Kang Hui shown as “【史記年表】侯金日【前漢•功臣表】侯商丘成”, there is no article yet to put forward Sanggu Sung for consideration.

It is hoped that this essay will open up a new horizon in Korean history and serve as a groundbreaking study that provides a new turning point in the study of the origins of Korean history.
